Dehinel Plus XL is an anthelmintic tablet for dogs.
NAMES OF ACTIVE SUBSTANCES AND OTHER INGREDIENTS
1 tablet contains:
Praziquantel: 175 mg
Emonat pirantel: 504 mg
Febantel: 525 mg
Oval, slightly yellowish-green, biconvex tablets. The tablet can be divided into equal parts (halved).
Directions:
treatment of mixed infestations with roundworms, nematodes and cestodes in the canine species:
Ascarids: Toxocara canis (in the mature and immature stage of development) Toxocara leonina (in the mature and immature stage of development)
Nematodes: Uncinaria stenocephala (in the mature and immature stage of development) Ancylostoma caninum (in the mature and immature stage of development) Trichuris vulpis (mature forms)
Cestode: Echinococcus granulosus Echinococcus multilocularis Dipylidium caninum Taenia spp. Multiceps multiceps Mesocestoides spp.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not use concomitantly with piperazine compounds.
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
The dose should not be exceeded when treating pregnant females.
SIDE EFFECTS
Very rarely, vomiting may occur with or without diarrhea.
The frequency of adverse reactions should be determined according to the following guidelines:
- very common (affects more than 1 user in 10)
- common (affects more than 1 user in 100 but less than 10)
- uncommon (affects more than 1 user in 1,000, but less than 10)
- rare (affects more than 1 user in 10,000, but less than 10)
- very rare (affects less than 1 in 10,000 animals, including isolated cases).
If you notice any serious effects or other effects not mentioned in this leaflet, please inform your veterinarian.
TARGET SPECIES
Dog (big and huge).
DOSAGE FOR EACH SPECIES, ROUTE (S) AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
For oral use.
Dosage
Recommended doses: 15 mg / kg febantel, 14.4 mg / kg pirantel and 5 mg / kg praziquantel - equivalent to 1 tablet at 35 kg body weight.
The tablets can be reduced by half.
There is no need to restrict access to food before or after use of the product. The tablets can be given to the dog either directly or hidden in food.
PROPOSAL FOR CORRECT USE
The body weight of the animal must be measured for accurate dosing.
For the treatment of Toxocara infection in lactating bitches, it should be given 2 weeks after calving and every two weeks until weaning. In case of severe nematode infection, treatment should be repeated after 14 days.
General deworming of developed dogs should be performed at 3-month intervals.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD:
Not applicable.
SPECIAL STORAGE CONDITIONS
Keep out of reach of children.
This veterinary medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions.
Do not use this veterinary medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
SPECIAL WARNING (S)
Special warnings for each target species:
Fleas are a common species of tapeworm, Dipylidium caninum. Worm infection may recur if concomitant treatment with intermediate hosts (eg fleas, mice, etc.) is omitted at the same time.
Special precautions for use in treated animals:
This product is not recommended for use in dogs weighing less than 17.5 kg.
Any tablet residue should be discarded.
Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals:
For proper hygiene, hands should be washed thoroughly after administration of the tablet (directly or mixed with food).
In case of accidental ingestion, seek medical advice immediately and show the package leaflet to the physician.
Use during pregnancy and lactation:
The advice of a veterinarian should be sought before treating nematodes in pregnant animals.
The product can be used during breast-feeding.
Do not use in pregnant females during the first two-thirds of pregnancy.
Drug interactions and other interactions:
It cannot be combined with piperazine, as pirantel and piperazine (used in many canine deworming products) can antagonize each other.
Concomitant use with other cholinergic compounds may lead to toxicity.
Overdose (emergency measures, antidotes):
The product is well tolerated by dogs. In toxicity studies, up to five times the recommended dose occasionally caused vomiting.
