Drontal® Plus XL Flavour Tablets for Dogs

Tablets Drontal® Plus XL is a broad-spectrum internal antiparasitic for the treatment of large dogs infested with roundworms and broadworms.

- Febantel: 525 mg

- pyrantel embonate: 504 mg

- Praziquantel: 175 mg

Light brown-brown tablets with meat flavour, bone-shaped, notched on both sides so that they can be split in two.

INDICATIONS

For the treatment of dogs infested with the following species of parasites:

Roundworms: Toxacara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum, Trichuris vulpis.

Tapeworms or broadworms: Echinococcus granulososos, Echinococcus multilocularis, Dipydium caninum, Taenia spp., Multiceps multiceps, Mesocestoides spp.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to active substances or any of the excipients.

- Tablets Drontal® Plus 35 kg A.U.V. should not be used in the first and second trimesters of gestation.

SIDE EFFECTS

In very rare cases, mild and transient digestive tract disorders (e.g. vomiting) may occur.

The frequency of adverse reactions is defined using the following convention:

Very rare (less than 1 animal in 10,000 animals, including isolated reports).

TARGET ANIMAL SPECIES

Dog

DOSE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION

Oral.

For dogs: 1 tablet / 35 kg body weight. (For the treatment of dogs, 1 tablet per 35 kg body weight (15 mg febantel, 14.4 mg pyrantel embonate and 5 mg praziquantel / kg body weight).

The dosages are as follows:

For every additional 17.5 kg body weight, take half an additional tablet.

ADMINISTRATION AND DURATION OF TREATMENT

The tablets are flavoured and studies have shown that they are tasty and taken voluntarily by the majority (approximately 88%) of dogs tested.

For roundworms and broadworms, tablets should be administered as a single administration.

A schedule of administration should be established in consultation with a veterinarian. As a general rule, a standard system for adult dogs (over six months of age) is a deworming every three months. If a dog owner chooses not to use anthelmintic treatment regularly, a feasible alternative might be to examine feces every three months. In certain specific situations, such as with puppies, young age (less than 6 months) or a kennel environment, more frequent treatment may be helpful and advice from a veterinarian should be sought to establish an appropriate antiparasitic protocol. Similarly, in some situations (such as massive roundworm infestations or Echinococcus spp. infestation,j further treatment may be necessary and a veterinarian may provide information on when additional treatment(s) should be administered.

Do not use in dogs weighing less than 7 kg.

For treatment against Giardia spp. infestation: The recommended dose should be given for three consecutive days.

Thoroughly clean and disinfect the animal's environment to prevent reinfestation, especially in kennel/kennel situations.
