Indication Treatment of inflamed and eczematous tissue, skin and wound infections in dogs, cats and horses due to bacterial, allergic or fungal causes.
Contraindications Do not use in horses producing meat for human consumption. Do not use in food producing species of animals.
Actions Nitrofurazone is bactericidal; at lower doses it is bacteriostatic. Nitrofurazone has no adverse effects on wound contraction or epithelialisation.Microbiology Neomycin sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic limited to topical use. Aminoglycosides are effective against rapidly dividing bacteria and they only need a short contact time to exert their effect. They are bactericidal and prevent microbial protein synthesis by irreversibly binding to the 30S subunit of the ribosome. Neomycin has a broad spectrum of activity including Escherichia coli, Salmonella sp., Klebsiella sp., Enterobacter sp., Proteus sp. and Actinobacillus sp.
Precautions Wear rubber gloves when using the product and wash hand after use.
